The McCormick Tribune Foundation released a poll this week revealing that when asked "If a hurricane, flood or other disaster struck your community and government services were overburdened, what if a movie or TV hero could come to the rescue?" - One in four Americans facing a disaster would most like the fictional help of resourcefully cunning action television hero MacGyver.
It was a disaster preparedness poll designed to bring up the importance of being prepared, especially considering this is National Preparedness Month, officially. Other named heroes included James Bond and Matt Damon's character "Jason Bourne." The staff here at DNN was surprised no one picked someone who could really fix things: Superman.
